About the Hanover Area Fire & Rescue Commission: On February 1st 2018, the Hanover Fire Department and Penn Township Department of Fire & Rescue were officially merged into one entity, known as Hanover Area Fire & Rescue. The merged Department operates under the Hanover Area Fire & Rescue Commission. This Commission consists of two representatives of Council of the Borough of Hanover, two representatives of the Board of Commissioners of Penn Township, one representative of Penn Township Volunteer Emergency Services,one representative of the Hanover Fire Department volunteer companies, and one local business person.
On April 14th 2018, Penn Township Volunteer Emergency Services, Eagle Fire Company #2, and Clearview Fire Company #3, held their first meeting as a merged volunteer company; Hanover Area Volunteer Fire & Rescue. They intent to provide the volunteer component of one of the most progressive fire departments in the area. Coupling the 10-12 dependable volunteer responders with a career staff consisting of 30 firefighters, and some 40 Emergency Medical Service providers, Hanover Area Fire & Rescue will be providing the highest quality service to the citizen of Hanover Borough and Penn Township
